Apply for a bursary to attend the Annual Conference as a student

You can now apply for a bursary of up to £200 to attend the SSA’s Annual Conference in Newcastle on Thursday 9 November and Friday 10 November 2023. Complete the form below if you are an unwaged undergraduate or master’s student, and have applied to present at the conference. If you do not meet these criteria, please check our other supported-place bursaries, which are aimed at third-sector service users, volunteers, and employees, and PhD students.

This funding scheme aims to support people who are unwaged undergraduate or master’s students, and who would like to present at the SSA Annual Conference, but who would otherwise be unable to attend. If you receive the bursary, the SSA will waive the conference ticket price, and fund up to £200 towards the cost of travel and accommodation.

In order to apply you must:
have submitted an abstract for an oral presentation, poster presentation, or both, at the 2023 Annual Conference
be an unwaged undergraduate or master’s student

Complete the form below by Monday 17 July 2023 at 6pm (BST). You can expect a decision about the bursary in late August / early September. Please note that if your presentation is not accepted by the reviewing panel, you will no longer be eligible for a supported place.
