Biography
Dr Lucy J Troup currently leads the Psychology program and is a Reader in Psychology at Norwich University of the Arts. As a clinical cognitive neuroscientist, she has spent her career focusing on how changing legislation to recreational drug use affects both the individual and society. The approach she takes places an emphasis on the importance of endogenous and exogenous variables for understanding how drugs can have an impact on the brain, behaviour, and society, and the importance of developing fact-based scientific support in understanding the effects and wider implications of drug use.
The initial focus of Lucy’s research was on the effects of cannabis on emotion processing and emotion processing disorders (depression, anxiety, and PTSD) from several perspectives, including clinical neuroscience, social neuroscience, and more traditional cognitive neuroscience using quantitative, relational, and qualitative methods. Her research programme includes cross-sectional surveys, experimental paradigms focused on brain imaging, and most recently, ecological momentary assessment.
