The SSA is offering short-term salary support to help talented addiction researchers to move from master’s degrees to PhDs, and from PhDs to fellowships. Apply for pre-doctoral support or post-doctoral support by 18 May 2026.
The SSA is now accepting applications for two schemes, which aim to retain talented researchers in the field of addiction and support the career aspirations of future research leaders:
- The pre-doctoral support scheme is designed to help master’s students and graduates develop successful applications for PhDs
- The post-doctoral support scheme is designed to enable high-quality post-doctoral researchers to progress towards a fellowship or other post-doctoral position
Both schemes are run by the SSA. Some of the awards will be part of the Addiction Healthcare Goals flagship research leadership programme, and will specifically support the UK Government’s goal to develop the next generation of leaders in addiction science and foster innovative responses to illicit drugs and alcohol.
