Biography
Mathias Luderer is a Senior Physician and Head of Addiction Medicine at the university hospital Frankfurt, Germany. He is board-certified in psychiatry, psychotherapy, and addiction medicine. His research focuses on ADHD-SUD comorbidity, stigmatization of patients with substance use disorders, and innovative treatment approaches including neuromodulation and virtual reality-based paradigms. He is a board member of the German Society for Addiction Research and Therapy (DG-Sucht) and the International Collaboration on ADHD and Substance Abuse (ICASA) and serves as Drug and Addiction Commissioner for the Hessen State Medical Association. Dr. Luderer has been recognized with the Wilhelm-Feuerlein-Award for clinical addiction research (2025), Germany’s leading prize in addiction science.
Abstract
Prevalence and clinical relevance of traumatic life events and ADHD comorbidity in patients with substance use disorder
Mathias will present research showing the high prevalence and clinical relevance of traumatic life events among individuals with substance use disorders, which frequently co-occur with additional psychiatric conditions. His work examines the relationship between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and trauma-related pathology in patients with alcohol dependence.
