The new SSA Early Career Research Network launches on 19 May, providing a series of (initially online) events designed to support PhD students and post-doc academics through the early stages of their addiction research careers.
Run by people in the early stages of their own research, this new ECR network will cover topics on grant writing, applying for fellowships, writing articles, getting published, and how to navigate the often confusing, and occasionally stressful, initial stages of a research career. The network welcomes suggestions and themes for future events, making sure it is focused on the needs of the next generation of addiction researchers.
The first event will take place on 19 May from 2.00 to 3.30pm and will focus on grant writing. Dr Inge Kersbergen will be joined by four experts in this area, Prof. Niamh Fitzgerald, Prof. Sarah Galvani, Dr Sadie Boniface and Dr Owen Bowden-Jones, who will talk about their experiences of writing and reviewing grant submissions; they’ll also answer your questions that you can submit here.

The SSA Early Career Research Network events will be open to post-doctoral researchers as well as PhD students. There is no limit on who is eligible, if you consider yourself to be an early career researcher and think that these events will help you, then please apply.
