A Friday SSA tea-break video for those of you working from home. Today, as your kettle boils, and you wonder whether it is a Rich Tea biscuit or a Hobnob day, Basak Tas chats to you about her research into heroin administration and reminds you how amazing research can be. There is nothing in the video that will help you chose a biscuit. Sorry.

We hope you all stay safe.

Filmed at the 2019 Lisbon Addictions conference, Basak Tas talks about her research into the physiological changes that occur during heroin administration. The research recorded pauses in participants’ breathing that could last for nearly a minute at a time and that continued for up to an hour after a heroin injection. Basak talks about the implications for overdose prevention and how future research could be taken out of the clinical setting.
